In Week 1, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Tom Brady was awarded FedEx Air Player of the Week, becoming the 13th different NFL player to receive this honor.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston orchestrated a game-winning drive for the Buccaneers in their 31-29 triumph over the Dallas Cowboys. Winston connected on 32-of-50 throws for 379 yards and four touchdowns during the game. In Week 1, Brady matched for the second-most touchdown passes among all NFL quarterbacks while finishing third in the league in passing yards.

Brady made his 300th career start in a victory over the Cowboys. As a result, he joined Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre (302) as one of nine players to participate in 300 career games. In addition, Brady tied Peyton Manning for the second-most games in NFL history with three-plus passing touchdowns. Brady joined Drew Brees as the only NFL quarterbacks to reach the milestone of 100 career 300-yard throwing games (123).

The nine-game winning streak extends back to last season for the Lightning. Tampa Bay has now won eight straight games in which it has scored 30 points or more, extending the league record for the longest such victory streak. Those previous eight wins, also coinciding with the 2007 and 2010 New England Patriots, are tied for the longest such streak. Every Buccaneers receiver had 90-plus receiving yards in the game, being the first time three different Tampa Bay receivers had ever done it in the same game. Tight end Rob Gronkowski caught two touchdown passes in Week 1, making it the 85th and 86th times that Brady and Gronkowski connected for touchdowns during the regular season, which broke the record previously held by Hall of Famers Steve Young and Jerry Rice.

FedEx Air Player of the Week recognition in 2020 was given to Brady on both occasions (Week 4 & Week 17). Tied for the most in franchise history are his three FedEx Air Player of the Week awards with Tampa Bay.
