Donaire has been ordered by the WBC to fight fellow Filipino fighter Gaballo
In the interim world champion Reymart Gaballo, world champion Nonito Donaire was instructed by the global boxing council as reported in Monday’s media (Tuesday in Manila).
This is the latest trend for the 38-year-old Nonito Donaire who won last May in fourth round with Nordine Oubaali from France.
It was a bit surprising that the WBC was in charge of fighting between the Donaire – a Philippine from the USA – and the unbelievable Reymart Gaballo from Polomolok, South Cotabato, as the Philippine Flash looks at two possible struggles genuinely.
One is a re-election of Naoya Inoue of Japan, the “Super” world bantamweight World Boxing Association and international boxing federation world champion.
The alternative option for Donaire is to go against flamingo Philippine champion John Riel Casimero, a native of Ormoc, who holds the World Boxing Organisation.
It nevertheless thrills the Gaballo camp, whose manager, Sanman Boxing Promotions Head JC Mananquil, has posted on his Facebook account a photograph of the current news about the boxers with a simple emoticon of ‘lighted’ in it.
The Manila Bulletin tried to reach Mananquil, but he cannot be commented on in the press.
Bob Arum, CEO and founder of the top ranking, pushed a Donaire-Inoue 2 after a thrilling battle between the two, which won the latter unanimously in November 2019.
Donaire was slated to face Casimero until the two had a social media feud that seemed to stop the fight.
Donaire last fought when he floored Oubaali on May 29, improving his record to 41 wins, 27 via knock-out with six defeats — solidly strengthening his standing of one of the world’s top boxers.
As for Reymart Gaballo, he extended his winning streak to 24–20 by KOs when he took a split decision-making victory in the US last 19 December against Puerto Rican Emmanuel Rodriguez.
